Epilogue: Bella has issues.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate! In some ways, Jesus might be considered the first godlike sparkly vampire (he did rise from the grave, after all). Think about it. But not too much.

So, Bella is a high school junior. Edward is in a tuxedo (looking perfect as always), and Bella has been forced to play dress up too -- but Edward refuses to tell her why, assuming she'll manage to figure it out on her own. Bella comes to the only logical conclusion: this is the night he'll be turning her into a vampire.

Wait, what? It's prom night Bella, what in the world is wrong with you? You really think...wow. Just wow.

Anyway, it is prom night, and a long time ago, she gave Tyler an emphatic "maybe, we'll see" about going to the prom with him. This means that like any teenage guy, he shows up at her house to pick her up for the prom even though he's gotten no confirmation of their "date" in the last six months. Tyler might have bigger issues than Bella.

Back to Bella though: apparently, she never even considered the possibility of it being the prom, because she thought that being turned into a vampire was a black tie occasion. Maybe there would be a few toasts, an altar, some ceremonial biting, and then a nice cocktail hour afterwords. Of course, Edward finds this as ridiculous as anyone else, human or vampire, would, which makes Bella a little angry. Why can't she be an undead creature too? Then she can be with Edward forever and ever and ever!

Stuff happens at prom. People dance. Vampires dance better (the whole group of Cullen schoolchildren are there). Jacob shows up, again there to deliver vague warnings to Bella without anyone actually doing anything to break them up in the slightest. Bella whines some more. Bella and Edward love each other very much, and kiss one more time.

And then it's over. It's mercifully over! I'll post my final thoughts soon before moving on to New Moon in due course.
